Losing a child is every parent’s worst nightmare. A similar incident happened with James Van Der Beek when his wife, Kimberly, suffered a miscarriage while carrying their sixth child.
James David Van Der Beek is an American actor best known for his portrayal of Dawson Leery in the WB series Dawson’s Creek. He shared the sad news while competing in semi-finals of Dancing With the Stars competition. He shared the tragic news which moved many hearts, “The little soul that we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond. You never know why these things happen. It’s what I’ve been telling my kids. All you know is that it brings you closer together.”
He further said that he shouldn’t be dancing tonight, but it was his wife who motivated him to continue his performance when she was still in the hospital.
He decided the song “Take Me to Church” by Hozier for his performance. The wordings of the song meant a lot to him, and he wanted to share his pain with the world.
He dedicated the song to his wife, Kimberly, who was in the recovering process. His eldest daughter Olivia was with him during his performance and cheering him aloud. At the end of the dance, the 9-year-old joined him, and he held her and sent a message to his wife while looking at the camera, “Kimberly, I love you. Thank you for pushing me on to the dance floor. Thank you for everything you do. And I don’t know how you do it. Five kids. You’re amazing. Thank you.”
The judges, audience, and contenders applauded him for showing courage. Being in the finale, he was sent home by the end of the episode. Kimberly expressed her gratitude to all the family, friends, and relatives for showing so much support and concern.
