Michael Gaffney, a 21-year-old man, was charged with reckless murder of Frances Veronica Garcia, 19, of Bloomingdale. He got arrested on Nov 2. While doing sex in a parked car, he strangled her to death. He took pictures of her while she was unconscious and naked. He further posted it on the snapchat before asking for help.
As per the postmortem report, she was choked, and injuries on her neck were also visible. During his court hearing, Superior Court Judge Margaret Foti read Gaffney’s Snapchat post aloud, which allegedly said,” Just f*****ed this bitch. She passed out. I don’t know what to do.”
The judge refused to release Gaffney on bond. His post and substance abuse were the leading cause for a judge to be adamant.
As per the investigation, Gaffney and Gracia met through mutual friends and remained in contact through social media. On 1st Nov, they met at a friend’s house before the incident took place.
During the get-together in Hackensack, Garcia and Gaffney left the gathering to hang out in her car on the top level of a parking garage on Prospect Avenue.
As per reports, They had sex for at least 20 mins before Gracia passed out as Gaffney was rough and his hands holding her by a neck. Seeing her unconscious in the backseat instead of asking for help, he clicked her pic and uploaded it on the Snapchat.
Later he told his friends that Gracias is not breathing. She was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center by her friends but was declared dead on arrival.
The blood-alcohol level present in Gracia was three times higher than legal, and she died due to compression injuries on her neck.
Gaffney is being held at the Bergen County Jail without bond.
