Netflix is going to get a new comedy series on board. This one, as stated by Jane Lynch and Cyndi Lauper, will be one like the ‘Golden Girls’ which dates back to the year 1985. The two actresses will be cast alongside another two, the names of whom have not yet been disclosed.
Jane Marie Lynch is an actress, author, singer and indeed an infamous comedian of American origin. The role that made her rise to fame was ‘Sue Sylvester’ in the television series of ‘Glee.’ She is also popular for her roles in ‘Julie and Julia,’ ‘Role Model,’ ‘For Your Consideration,’ ‘Adventures of Power’ and a lots more.
Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper, on the other hand, is a singer, songwriter, actress and a prominent activist. ‘She’s so Unusual’ was her most memorable album as that was her debut one which also got her to the top of the list of ‘Billboard Hot 100’. Delivering songs like ‘Girls Just want to Have Fun,’ ‘ Time After Time,’ ‘She Bop’and a lot more, she won a million hearts and made her name a prominent one in the industry.
The news of the upcoming comedy work was revealed by Lynch at the backstage of the Creative Arts Emmys. Lynch moved on to frame the upcoming sitcom as “kind of a ‘Golden Girls’ for today.” She further added that she approached Netflix for the screening of the show and “they bought it.”
Further searches led to the finding that Carol Leifer, the infamous comedian, and writer, announced the news about this work over Facebook, back in July of this year. Her post read, “It’s official, heading out next with a new half-hour comedy, starring Jane Lynch and Cyndi Lauper. A writer’s dream to work with these two legends. Can’t wait to see where we land…”.
The winner of Emmy for ‘Guest actress in a comedy’ for the movie, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!’, Lynch quoted, “We’re our age, I’m almost 60, and she’s 65, and we’re looking for our next act, without ever having had husbands of children. And there will be two other people who haven’t been cast yet. But it’s kind of a ‘Golden Girls’ for today.”
