On Aug. 25, 2022, Netflix confirmed the renewal of fan-favorite show The Umbrella Academy for a fourth season! Although it’s thrilling that fans get to see their favorite show stay alive and continue with another installment of action and entertainment, this announcement has come after an unfortunate delay between seasons three and four.

The Umbrella Academy season 4: total episodes
Steve Blackman, the showrunner of The Umbrella Academy confirmed that viewers can expect just six episodes for season four. While the previous three seasons contained 10 episodes each, this installment will be significantly shorter in comparison.
While we know that the final season of The Umbrella Academy has been cut short, there’s something to cheer you up! A grand total of 36 episodes will have aired by the end. So don’t worry – there’ll be plenty more adventures with our favorite super-powered siblings yet to come!
The Umbrella Academy season 4 episode titles
The episode titles of season 4 of The Umbrella Academy remain undisclosed, and likely won’t be revealed until shortly before the final leg of the show airs. However, Netflix is known to give viewers a glimpse at certain series’ future episodes days or weeks ahead of time.
Although we don’t know any other details about Season 4 of the show, Blackman revealed on Instagram that the first episode will be entitled “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want.” The script was written by both himself and Jesse McKeown.

Thrilled to share the news, Blackman posted a picture of the cast on Instagram and declared that filming had commenced in February 2023. This is nothing short of excellent news! The faster production gets rolling, the sooner we’ll have access to watch season 2 on Netflix.
It’s hard to predict the length of time that production for the new season will take, as we have seen long shoots in years past. For instance, filming for Season 3 started in February 2021 and carried on until August that same year before its release on Netflix came out a full year later – June 2022. As soon as more information comes through regarding how long this season’s shoot is expected to last, we’ll be sure to share it with you!
The Umbrella Academy season 4 release updates
Finally, some good news for the dedicated fans of The Umbrella Academy! Production on season 4 has already begun – a surefire indicator that we may soon be able to enjoy the series’ conclusion on Netflix. The cast and crew still have plenty of work ahead but now that production is under way, expect more details such as storyline information, casting updates and all-new characters to start rolling in shortly!
Since filming for The Umbrella Academy season 4 has already begun, the wait time will be cut drastically compared to if it were just starting now. As they are sticking with a shorter run this time around, production should not drag on and we can expect our favorite show back much sooner than anticipated!
