Matthew Perry is an American- Canadian actor best known for his role in the hit sitcom “Friends” as Chandler Bing. Apart from the TV series, Perry is also seen in excelling his roles in films like Fools Rush In and 17 Again.

Revisiting the 9th season of FRIENDS, Matthew Perry was facing health issues back then. Although his co-stars supported him completely. But there are few things he faced alone and will be very dangerous to hear.

Perry’s addiction on Vicodin

In a People magazine cover story, Matthew Perry has also mentioned about his addiction of taking Vicodin 50 times a day, which left him in a situation where he had a “2 percent chance of living”. Due to this, he developed a gastrointestinal perforation. It is a hole which develops through the wall of a body part mainly large/small intestine, oesophagus or stomach.

According to the reports, he said “I was put on a thing called an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and your lungs. And that’s called a Hail Mary. No one survives that.” Perry tells about the time when he was in hospital and was in coma for 2 weeks straight and then another 5 months admitted in the hospital itself.

During the shoot of FRIENDS, Matthew Perry also faced a sudden loss of weight of 128 pounds. His change is appearance is seen in the whole series to which his co-stars were very supportive as he mentions.

Matthew was also a drunk addict, to which he said. “I can handle it, sort of. But when I was 34, I really got in big trouble”. He also mentions about how he survived when everyone beside him died by saying, “Five people were stuck in the ECMO machine that night, and the other four died, and I survived. So, the big question is why? Why was it me? There must be a reason.”
