“It’s been an incredible run”
The CW shows are going through a change. Or rather, they’re finally being closed down. Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman became the latest shows to be cancelled. The news was confirmed by executive producer and co-showrunner Keto Shimizu via Twitter on Friday.
The End of Legends of Tomorrow
Shimizu wrote, “Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run.” She went on to say that the CW has let them know that Legends of Tomorrow will not return for an eighth season. She admitted that she, along with the other cast and crew are heartbroken at the news, but are still immensely grateful. Shimizu then extended her gratitude to the fans for loving and supporting their strange band of misfits, and said they will always have a place on the Waverider.
The disappointment and sadness was evident on the other writers as well. In a statement, they said it has been the journey of a lifetime for them. A show that almost didn’t happen went on to become something that could be anything it wanted to be. The story took them to Camelot, Salvation, Hollywood, and even inside the mind of a computer. But at its core, the show was about showing that your friends are your family.
Other Cancellations
The news about Legends of Tomorrow wasn’t really a surprise since The CW recently cancelled Batwoman earlier on Friday. It could be noticed when the network excluded these shows on the list of renewals. The LGBTQ+ community will also share in the disappointment since it had a few queer female characters.
But after Donald Faison’s character was revealed as Booster Gold in the end, so the show has ended in an incomplete note.
