Marvel Animation and Family Entertainment’s Panel, on Friday at Disney’s D23 Expo, announced an original preschool animated series for Disney Junior. The series which is set to release in 2021 is titled “Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends”.
The series is going to mark the first full-length Marvel series for Marvel Junior. The news comes after a turbulent week for the Spider-Man movie franchise. A dispute between Sony and Marvel/Disney led to Kevin Feige exiting the Spider-Man franchise of Sony. This, in turn, resulted in Spider-Man exiting form the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Preschool kids already love Spidey, so they’ll be delighted to have Peter Parker thwapping across their screens in this new series”, said the Cort Lane, senior vice president of Marvel Animation and Family Entertainment while announcing the news series.
The plot of the series will revolve around Peter Parker, who is used to working solo. He will then realize that to become a superhero, being a spider friend and working with others will help. Along with his friends Miles Morales and Ghost-Spider, he will come together with Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Black Panther.
Ms. Marvel is a new addition to Marvel Cinematic Universe who will develop in Disney+ and have plans to appear in Marvel Movies.
The executive producers for the new upcoming series will be, Alan Fine, Joe Quesada, Cort Lane, Dan Buckley, and Eric Radomski. Ashley Mendoza will be the story editor and Alfred Gimeno will serve as supervising the animation producer. Marsha Griffin is the co-executive producer of the series and Harrison Wilcox as the supervising producer.
The production team of the ‘Marvel and his Amazing Spidey Friends’ is one of the greatest hits and has amazing producers who are behind the Marvel’s hit movies of all the time.
The timing of the announcement is awkward and peculiar to note considering the dispute between Sony and MCU, but this is the only way Spider-Man can develop at this point in time.
