Disney released the first poster for ‘Noelle,’ their new Christmas movie starring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader. The film was revealed during this year’s D23 Expo and is set to release on their Disney+ streaming service.
Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live) is seen as Santa’s son Nick Kringle, while Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) plays Santa’s daughter Noelle. The movie aims at bringing a fun sibling dynamic. Other stars in the film include Billy Eichner, Shirley MacLaine, Julie Hagerty and more. The main plotline explores what would happen when Santa’s daughter would take over the family business after Nick disappears just weeks before Christmas not being able to handle the pressure and stress of being Santa. The movie follows Noelle, as she travels all over the world trying to find her brother and bring him home, to save Christmas. The tag line on the poster – “Saving Christmas together? Oh, Joy” gives us a picture of how close these Kringle siblings are and how fun the movie is going to be.
The movie, as some critics have pointed out, is a take on how the eldest is supposed to take on the family business and challenges our assumption that Santa’s son would be taking on the job. It would be interesting to see a female Santa on the movie screen, even for a few moments. However, since it is not known how the story goes, we will have to wait.
Directed and written by Marc Lawrence the movie is releasing on November 12.
