Larry King has filed for divorce from his seventh wife, Shawn King
The legendary American television and radio host, Larry King, 85, has filed for the divorce from his present wife, Shawn King. The couple who has been married for 22 years didn’t have a smooth sail. They experienced many highs and lows throughout their marriage. Their marriage has always been in the news for several reasons.
The marriage
The singer and actress, Shawn King, is the seventh wife of the popular host. The couple had an interesting nuptial in the hospital room where Larry was undergoing heart surgery. Three days before his surgery to clear a clogged blood vessel, the couple got married at the King’s Los Angeles hospital on 5th September 1997.
The couple has two children together. They welcomed their first son, Chance Armstrong King on March 9, 1999. And their second son, Cannon Edward King was born a year later on May 22, 2000.
Rocky marriage
The talk show host had first filed for the divorce 9 years back in 2010. Both had filed for the divorce seeking sole custody of their children then. Rumour had surfaced that the divorce was ongoing due to Larry’s alleged affair with his wife’s sister, Shannon Engemann, which was vehemently denied by Shannon, stating that she never had an affair with him and is not the reason behind their divorce. Soon, news of Shawn’s affair with her son’s baseball coach, Hector Penate emerged, a claim that was accepted by the coach.
Things had started to look sunny again when King had retracted all the paperwork from the court. And the couple denied all the allegations of an extramarital affair in 2016 in an interview with Home & Family.
In December 2018, when Larry was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the entertainment industry at NFTA, his family was present with him at his felicitation. Shawn and his sons, Chance and Cannon were the ones who presented him the award.
Is it the end of the road?
Well, it seems so that it’s over this time. Larry has submitted all the documents at the Los Angeles superior court citing irreconcilable reasons for behind the separation, and that the couple has been living separately since June 2019. His lawyer has confirmed the same to a leading media portal.
The divorce hasn’t come as a shocker because people related to them knew about the unhappiness and discomfort brewing in their relationship.
