Good news coming for the 90s kids. Disney has decided to release the remake of ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Night at the Museum’ for its new streaming platform. Disney Studio’s chief executive Bob Iger has stated that there will also be “reimagination” of ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ and ‘Cheaper By the Dozen.’
Disney’s New Streaming Service
As now Disney has bought the 20th Century Fox film studio, it owns the franchises. Disney is all set to launch its streaming service called Disney+. The streaming service is expected to be launched in the USA in November and next year (2020) in the UK.
In a conference call with the investors, Disney’s chief executive Bob Iger said that so far this year they have released five of the top six movies. Out of these five, four had collected more than a billion dollars in the global box office. Now the studio is focused on leveraging Fox Studio’s vast library of great titles to enrich their content further.
About the Movie Remakes:
All the aforementioned remakes announced by Disney will be released on Disney+. It is going to be interesting to witness the remake of Macaulay Culkin’s Christmas classic ‘Home Alone.’ The movie was initially released in 1990 and had a successful audience rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. The other movie ‘Night at the Museum’ originally released in 2006 but has a humble rating of only 42% on Rotten Tomatoes. So we may conjecture that there is still room for improvement in it.
Iger has stated that the two movies won’t be a continuation of the beloved franchises. They are going to be a “reimagination” well suited to the “new generation.”
As of now, further information regarding how exactly the movies will be adapted or who will be cast is not available.
