The New Mutants is finally releasing in select theatres across the US on August 28. In an interview with Gamespot, director Josh Boone and the cast discussed how the superhero movie is inspired by horror films. The film sounds exciting and a great treat to watch.

In an announcement that came via Tweet today from the Rose Bowl Stadium, a partnership has been made with 20th Century Studios that will allow screenings of the new film, The New Mutants, that start Thursday and run through September 13th.

As part of a partnership with 20th Century Studios, fear is coming to the Rose Bowl with day and night drive-in movie screenings of The New Mutants starting this Thursday and running through September 13th.

The showtimes will vary by day, starting on August 27th and running through September 13th. The New Mutants runs 94 minutes in length and is rated PG-13. 20th Century Studios in association with Marvel Entertainment presents The New Mutants, an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.

Henry Zaga, who plays Sunspot, admitted that he had never seen Nightmare On Elm Street before watching it with the cast. Zaga said, “The movies I grew up with were like, Scream and The Goonies. I think there are elements of those in here, too. Josh [Boone] loves them and draws a lot from them–we even have a moment that is a homage to Psycho. He loves to weave in those little hints and moments.”
