Selah said Lauryn was angry because she was being attacked by the media, ‘going through her own s**t’ and raising five kids with a man ‘who didn’t really know her’. And so she explained that her childhood was without peace because there were constant family issues going on. In turn, she feels she may have even developed a possible split personality disorder and has unhealthy relationships because of her father’s absence.

She admitted things were calmer when she became a teenager. Lauryn Hill hasn’t publicly commented on the live stream, and probably won’t.
Selah called her mother an “amazing woman” but revealed that she was “angry” and she used to spank the children, who stayed with their grandparents “half the time.” “She was just very angry. So, so, so, so, so, so angry. She was literally not easy to talk to and then half the time we didn’t live with her. I lived with my grandparents half the time… It’s crazy, I’m playing this trauma back in my head as I speak to you.”

Selah said Lauryn would tell her to go get the belt and it felt like walking to your death. She added: ‘You walk to go get the belt, the switch, this that. And my mother is an amazing woman, but she obviously didn’t do everything right.’ And she then admitted she was still ‘traumatized’ by the sound of the belt hitting as she continued: ‘And then the threats, the constant threats… That belt, man. That’s that slave s**t. ‘That was some slavery s**t. All Black parents were on that s**t.’
